Ukrainian Egg Workshop - SOLD OUT

Saturday, April 13, 2019, 6:00 PM

Instructor: Sarah Morgan.
Cost: $65.
A pysanka is a Ukrainian Easter egg, decorated with traditional Ukrainian folk designs using a wax-resist method. The designs are not painted on, but written with beeswax. In pre-Christian times, the egg was important for rite-of-Spring festivals, representing rebirth. With the advent of Christianity, the symbolism of the egg was changed to represent the rebirth of man.
Participants in this workshop will learn about traditional images and the symbolism of dye colors that they will use to complete their egg projects. All materials, including eggs, dyes, wax, kistky and design guides will be provided, but please wear close-fitting clothes and make sure long hair is tied back or up, as we will be heating our kistky with candles. In case of latex allergy, please bring your own gloves.
